Enhancing English Writing Skill through Kahoot at MTs Al-Khairiyah Badamussalam (A Quasi-Experimental Research)
This study aims to explore the use of the Kahoot application as a digital learning tool to enhance students’ English writing skills at the eighth grade of MTs Al-Khairiyah Badamussalam. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an experimental group taught through Kahoot and a control group taught by conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests assessing students’ writing performance. The findings revealed that both groups improved after the treatment; however, the experimental class achieved a higher mean score (from 63.05 to 80.57) compared to the control class (from 59.65 to 73.90). Although the Mann–Whitney U Test result (Sig. = 0.489 > 0.05) showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups, the descriptive data indicated meaningful progress in students’ writing ability and engagement. The most notable improvement occurred in content and organization, supported by Kahoot’s interactive and motivating environment. These findings suggest that Kahoot contributes positively to the development of students’ writing skills and can serve as an effective supplementary tool to foster engagement and idea organization in EFL classrooms.
