<note>Reading comprehension is one of the abilities that students must have, especially when learning narrative text. However, most students find it difficult to master reading comprehension. Therefore, contextual learning media is needed in accordance with ESP. The objective of this research is to design an Islamic short story book for English students and to find out whether the book can be used as a narrative text learning medium. The research was conducted at SMP IT Al Izzah Serang. This research used Research and Development method (R &#38; D) with ADDIE model which includes 5 stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validity of the product was validated by material expert and media expert. For knowing the student’s needs and the feedback o, the writer used questionnaires to 25 English students of grade VIII. Data obtained from the questionnaires and interviews were analyzed by descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The level of validity of the Islamic vocabulary book according to the assessment was: 1) by the material, expert, the mean score was 3 with category “enough valid”, 2) by the media expert, the mean score was score 3, 3 with category “enough valid”. The results of the student feasibility assessment questionnaire were 16 students stating the book was worthy, 7 students stated the book was worthy enough and 2 students stated the book was less worthy. Meanwhile, the results of the feasibility assessment by the English teacher were 3.6 in the quite worthy category. The Islamic short story book is suitable for use as a narrative text learning medium in class.</note>
