<note>This research explores the effectiveness of YouTube videos as a learning media to enhance high school students' writing skills in composing English descriptive texts. The study was prompted by common challenges encountered by students in writing, particularly in generating ideas, selecting appropriate vocabulary, applying correct grammar, and organizing their thoughts into coherent and structured texts. These difficulties often result in writing that lacks clarity, detail, and engagement. One of the main contributing factors to these issues is the use of conventional, textbook-based teaching methods that do not sufficiently support students’ creativity or provide concrete visual references. YouTube, as a widely accessible and popular digital platform, offers diverse and contextual audiovisual content that can help address these writing challenges by presenting real-life examples, enriching vocabulary exposure, and stimulating idea development. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether the integration of YouTube videos into the teaching process could significantly improve students’ descriptive writing skills. The research was conducted at MAN 1 Pandeglang using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: an experimental group taught using YouTube videos and a control group taught using traditional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test with SPSS version 23. The findings revealed that the experimental group showed a substantial improvement in their writing performance, with the average score increasing from 13.57 to 17.14, whereas the control group showed only a modest increase from 13.86 to 14.96. The significance value of 0.000 indicated a statistically significant difference between the two groups. In conclusion, the study found that YouTube videos serve as an effective and engaging media in overcoming students’ writing difficulties particularly in idea development, vocabulary usage, grammar accuracy, and text organization thus enhancing the overall quality of their descriptive writing.</note>
