<note>This research aims to analyze the level of students’ self directed learning as users of the Duolingo application and to determine the factors that influence students’ self directed learning. This study uses a case study as a research method. This study uses obervation, interviews and documentation as research instruments to collect the data. Participants in this study are 10 students who used the Duolingo application at second grade of SMAN 3 Cilegon. The results of the observation showed that students did use the Duolingo application and already had a Duolingo application account, and from the classification of students’ self directed learning categories, the results of the interview showed that students as users of the Duolingo application had varying levels of students’ self directed learning, 4 students had a high level of self directed learning, 3 students had a medium level of self directed learning, and 3 people had a low level of self directed learning. This research significantly contributes to understanding students' self directed learning levels as a user of the Duolingo application. It successfully identifies variations in students' self directed learning levels and the dominant influencing factor, which is motivation. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing more effective technology based learning strategies and provide insights for educators and application developers in designing features that support the enhancement of students' self directed learning.</note>
