Student Response to Teacher Teaching Speaking English in the Classroom Using Audio Lingual Method to the Seventh Grades in MTS Minhajul Abidin Lebak Wangi


This study was conducted to determine the response of students and speaking skills of grade VII students using the Audiolingual Method at MTs Minhajul Abidin Lebak Wangi. The purpose of this study was to determine whether teaching speaking using the Audiolingual method is effective in improving students' speaking skills and whether students can play an active role in class when speaking English at MTs Minhajul Abidin. The researcher applied Qualitative Research. The research instruments were tests and Interviews. This study consists of steps including planning, action, observation, and Interviews. This study was conducted on grade VII students of MTs Minhajul Abidin Lebak Wangi. The subjects of this study consisted of nine students; five females and four males. The results showed that student achievement and performance from the pre-test to the post-test increased significantly. This can be seen from the increase in student scores from the pre-test: 61 to the post-test: 61. In conclusion, the Audiolingual Method increases students' interest in speaking skills and the responses of students who are very interested in this method so that if we look at students' speaking abilities, it is very significant.
