The Influence of Students Anxiety Towards Speaking English at The Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Kibin

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of anxiety on the English speaking ability in Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Kibin. This research used quantitative methods with a correlational approach. This research involved all eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Kibin as the population, with a sample of 32 students selected randomly through a cluster sampling technique. The instrument in this research consist of a speaking test to measure students English speaking ability and a questionnaire modified from Horwitz's (1986) to measure students' anxiety level when speaking English. The spearman correlation test results show that there is a negative and strong correlation between the two varibles with a significance value of
