<note>This study discussed about English teacher code-switching in the classroom which focused to determine the types, the functions and the factors of teacher code- switching at five senior high schools in Lebak. In data collection, this study used a descriptive qualitative research method with observation, interview and documentation instruments. The subject of the study is an English teacher. The researcher choose one English teacher from each school, total there are five English teachers who have been observed. Based on the results of data analysis, the researcher concluded that English teachers in senior high schools use code switching during the teaching and learning process, there are three types, namely tag switching, intersentential, intrasentential that carried out by teacher in learning English, these types related to the theory was proposed by Shana Poplack. And there are three functions of code switching practiced by English teacher namely topic switch, affective function and repetitive function, these functions wes proposed by Mattson and Burenhult. The researchers also found 3 factors in the use of code switching by English teachers when teaching, namely language competence, language anxiety and learning motivation. And in the use of code-switching by the teacher is very beneficial for students because it can help studens to understand the material easily, so the interaction in the teaching and learning process becomes active and effective.</note>
