This study aims to explore the use of cultural conflict depicted in
the movie PK as a medium to promote critical thinking among students.
Critical thinking is an essential skill for students in the 21st century,
enabling them to analyze, evaluate, and respond effectively to various
perspectives. The PK movie, a thought-provoking film, challenges
traditional beliefs and practices, making it a suitable resource for
stimulating discussions and critical analysis in education. This research
employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings
reveal that cultural conflicts presented in the movie serve as effective
triggers for promoting students in critical thinking. Students are
encouraged to question assumptions, recognize multiple viewpoints, and
construct well-reasoned arguments. The study concludes that integrating
media, such as the PK movies can significantly promote students' critical
thinking skills. The PK movie also highlights the importance of
understanding cultural differences to avoid cultural conflicts and is
thought-provoking to encourage deeper learning. Recommendations are
provided for educators to incorporate similar strategies in their teaching
practices to create a more interactive learning environment.
