The Evaluation of English Learning Results by Using Mondly Application (A Mixed Method Study at SMAN 1 Ciomas)


Mondly is a language learning application that offers a practical and engaging
approach to English language learning. With a variety of application features, the
Mondly application can improve English skills. The purpose of this study was to
evaluate the English learning results using the Mondly application and to determine
the perceptions and experiences of high school students and teachers in using the
Mondly application to learn English skills. This study used a mixed method
approach, using the experimental one-group pre-test post-test design, and CIPP
model evaluation to evaluate the English learning results by using the Mondly
application. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Ciomas, Serang, Banten. The
research instrument used a test, questionnaire, and interview. The number of
participants in this study was 38 students and two English teachers. The pre-test and
post-test used the results of the student's final semester exam scores. The results of
the study showed that student evaluations of English learning results by using the
Mondly application showed that this application was an effective tool for improving
English skills. The results of the test showed that the pre-test mean score was 87.74
and the post-test mean score was 90.50. these results show an increase in student
scores before and after using the Mondly application. Then the t-test results show
sig value = 0.000 which is less than α 0.50. Hence, the alternative hypothesis (Ha)
was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Questionnaire results from
the Mondly application have a score range of 2.11 to 4.11, with an average of 3.57.
The results show that the Mondly application can be used to learn all English skills.
The features in this application are also very useful and can effectively help students
in learning English.
