<note>This study’s objective was to find out the correlation between students’ motivation and reading comprehension ability at SMPN 1 Cilegon. This research approach that used ex post facto design. The population of this research researcher took a population of seventh and eighth graders totaling 541 students, and the sample 54 students. The instruments of this research were Questionnaire and document. The questionnaire was to measure students’ motivation and documenting was to measure students’ reading comprehension. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed the data used spearman formula. The analysis was found out that there was a significant correlation between students’ motivation and students’ reading comprehension ability. The correlation coefficient was the rvalue 0,521 that was higher than rtable 0,256. The result indicated that the H0 is rejected and the Ha is accepted.</note>
