The Correlation Between Intelligent Quotient (IQ) and Student Listening Comprehension (A Correlational Study at UIN SMH Banten)

The objective of this research was to ascertain the correlation between students' IQ and their listening comprehension at the second semester of English education at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in the 2023/2024 academic year, and to define the significance of this correlation. This study employed a correlational approach, utilising a correlational research design. The instruments employed in this study are an IQ test and a listening test. The study sample comprised 31 students enrolled in the second semester of English language education at UIN SMH Banten. The results of the study demonstrated that there is no significant correlation between intelligence quotient and listening comprehension in the second semester of the English Education Department at UIN SMH Banten academic year 2023/2024. The correlation coefficient between the intelligent quotient score and the student's listening score is 0.0338, indicating a low correlation (0.20-0.40). The results of this study demonstrate a negative correlation between students' IQ and their listening comprehension at the second semester of English education at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in the 2023/2024 academic year.
