Improving Student’s Speaking Skill Through REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring) Strategy (A Classroom Action Research at The Eighth Grade of MTs Al-Khairiyah Pakuncen)
This study aims to improve student speaking skills through REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring) strategy at the eight grade students of MTS.Al-Khairiyah Pakuncen. The study is conducted based on some problems: students' low speaking scores and the lack of efficient learning strategies. The method used in this study is classroom action research (CAR), which uses data collection techniques through observations and tests. This study is conducted in two cycles each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Implementing the REACT strategy in teaching speaking, especially in recount text material, can help students be more active and courageous in speaking. In addition, the teacher/researcher's teaching is also well organized, as seen by his ability to master the class and apply the REACT strategy with the correct procedure. The results of this study show that in the first cycle, the average score obtained was 68.5, and in cycle two, it increased to 82.5 scores. Based on the implementation and results obtained, it can be concluded that the students' speaking ability has improved using this REACT strategy.
