<note>This research was conducted to examine the effectiveness of using board race games in improving students English spelling proficiency in seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 6 Cilegon. In this reasearch, the researcher used experimental research approach with a quasi-experimental research design. There were two classes that were used as participants, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class was given treatment board race game, while the control group was given treatment conventional learning method. The administration of pre-test and post-test instruments to 35 students in the experimental class and 34 students in the control class was carried out in this research to obtain the research data. According to the analytical results, the experimental class had an average pre-test score of 29 points and an average post-test score of 62 points. Meanwhile, the control group had an average pre-test score of 39.85 and an average post-test score of 54.11 points. During the data analysis process, researchers employed SPSS for window in analyzing the research data. The hypothesis in this study was tested using the t-test. There are two t-tests performed, namely the paired sample t-test and the independent sample t-test. The two t-test results that has been conducted had a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.00 &#60; 0.05. Thus, is rejected and is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded by researchers that the use of board race games is effective in improving students' English spelling proficiency.</note>
