<note>The clearly communication can be achieved by following the Grice’s maxim. This research has two purposes, those are: To analyze Grice’s Maxim applied in the Conversation of English Textbook for Junior High School, and to identify the kinds of Adjacency Pair found in the Conversation of English Textbook for Junior High School. To achieve those purposes, the qualitative method is employed in this research. The subject of this research is English Textbook entitled “English for Nusantara” for Seventh Grade of Junior High School. This research finding shows that, first, 4 types of Grice’s Maxim are applied in the textbook. Those are, Maxim Relevance, found 79 times, which is the highest number found in this book. Maxim of manner found 74 times, Maxim of Quantity found 34 times, and the lowest is Maxim of Quality found 23 times. Second, nine types of adjacency pair found in this textbook. those are, Question-Answer found 36 times, which is the most common in this English textbook. Greeting-Greeting found 4 times. Compliment-Acceptance, Invitation-Acceptance/Refusal, Request-Acceptance/Refusal, and Summon-Acceptance found 2 times. Assertion-Agreement/Disagreement, Farewell-Farewell, and Offer-Acceptance/Refusal are the lowest, found only once in this English textbook. It can be concluded that the conversations in this book apply all four maxims, which makes the conversation flow successfully. For the most common types of adjacency pair found in this English textbook, which is Question-Answer, this type can help in developing the topic of conversation even more.</note>
