Differentiated Learning Approaches to Teach Reading Skill (A Qualitative Research at SMP Negeri 1 Cilegon)
This study investigates the implementation of differentiated learning in improving English reading comprehension among Grade 7 students at SMPN 1 Cilegon within the framework of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. Data collected through questionnaires and interviews before and after the intervention showed significantly improve students' reading abilities and vocabulary mastery. The study concluded that differentiated learning is a highly effective instructional strategy that boosts reading comprehension and promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and self-awareness. The success of this approach is attributed to dedicated teachers and supportive school environments, which create dynamic and inclusive learning experiences. The study also highlights the importance of integrating technology to provide diverse learning resources and make learning more interactive. Challenges include the need for effective classroom management and communication with parents. However, the positive outcomes underscore the value of differentiated learning in fostering academic success and meeting the diverse needs of English language learners. Based on the result above, differentiated learning is a highly effective instructional strategy that improves English reading comprehension and supports various learning needs and styles.
