An Analysis of Cultural Content Representation in English Textbook


The purpose of this study was to explain the cultural aspects represented in the English textbooks When English Ring’s a Bell and to determine dominant the cultural aspect represented in the English When English Ring’s a Bell. Researchers use descriptive qualitative methods which are categorized as content analysis research. The results of cultural research from this textbook there are four cultures. That is mostly represented by pragmatic sense of percentage 66,2%. which is indicated by the presence of gramamar material, speech acts, and text structure. Sociological sense 20,1%. And semantic sense 12,2% The Aesthetic sense has the lowest frequency about 1,4%. The data reveal that the pragmatic sense was dominates the representation of the cultural content of the textbook. Concluded that there is an unbalanced quantity between the types of culture presented and how that culture is represented in textbooks.
