<note>The aim of this research was to measure the effectiveness of using talking sticks on the speaking performance of students in the first class of Hidayatul Ikhwan High School. The method in this research is quasi-experimental research. The population is first grade students of Hidayatul Ikhwan senior High School. The sample consisted of two classes, namely class X B as the experimental group and X A as the control group. Each group consists of 25 students. This research was carried out through producers as follows: giving pre-test, treatment, and giving post-test. Data obtained by performance tests. Data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The research results show that at a significance level of 5%, t tr or 1,100 = 0.278. And the for aspect that are more effective in speaking performance is vocabulary. This can be seen from the highest score of understanding in the experimental class in the post-test, there were 4 students who got a score of 15, and there were 21 students who got a score 20.</note>
