<note>The purpose of this study was to determine if there is any influence of word chain game towards students’ speaking skill. Researcher used quantitative research by applying a quasi-experimental design to conduct research. The population of this study was made up of students in class VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Mancak. This research takes 60 students as a sample and divided it into two classes there are control group and experimental group. In collecting data, researchers conducted observations and tests (pre-test and post-test). The data analysis employed parametric statistics, including normality test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test. The study had been done in five meetings that were designed: the first meeting was for the pre-test, three meetings were for treatments, and the last meeting was for the post-test. The calculation results show that with a significance degree of 5% and 58 degrees of freedom, t count (4.127) is greater than t table (1.672). This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It can also be seen that the average value of the experimental class is higher than the control class. It can be concluded that there was significant effect to improve students’ speaking skill by using word chain game.</note>
