<note>This research was carried out to explore plagiarism among undergraduate students’ in writing thesis at English Education Department of the State Islamic University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. Specifically, it sought to know the similarity report to the original source of undergraduate students’ thesis as detected by plagiarism checker, to know the factors that cause the students to commit plagiarism in writing undergraduate thesis, and to know the students’ strategy to encounter plagiarism problem in writing undergraduate thesis. The method was used in this study was exploratory research. Ten students were selected as the participants. The data were gathered through interview, questionnaire, Turnitin checker, and documentation analysis. The result of similarity report by Turnitin showed that all students did not cross the maximum threshold of 30%. On an average percentage, the level of student plagiarism was 26.2%. The result of factors caused plagiarism showed that There were several factors that underlie why students commit plagiarism, hierarchically the first is pressure and fear of failure, the second is difficulty in expressing ideas in writing, the third is internet plagiarism sources and cheating, the fourth is unfamiliarity with academic texts, and the last is apparent dishonesty. In addition, there were four strategies used by the students to avoid plagiarism. it was known that the method most often used by students was paraphrasing. Followed by correct citation, anticipated plagiarism by using various plagiarism checker platforms, and students also used the summarizing method.</note>
