The Influence of Three-Step Interview Technique Towards Student’s Speaking Skills (A Quasi Experimental Research of the eleventh grade at MAN 21 Jakarta)


This research is conducted to investigate the influence of Three-Step Interview technique to improve student’s speaking skills, at MAN 21 Jakarta. The researcher collected the data from 76 students that spared into two classes. Population of this research was the eleventh grade students of MAN 21 Jakarta, academic year 2022/2023. The sample of the research used class XI IPS 1 as an experimental class and XI IPS 2 as control class. The method that is used in this research was quantitative method and also used quasi-experimental research design with use the instruments were three stages are pre-test, treatment, post-test. The result of the research is the mean score of experimental class was 38,63. After using Three-Step Interview technique, the mean score increase to 70,52. The data analysis is using t-test the value of or or is 11,923 and the degree of freedom (df) was 74. Based on the result, it can be seen that Ha is accepted because higher than . It conclusion that Three-Step Interview technique is influence and effective to be applied in teaching speaking and based on t-test, Three-Step Interview has significant effect towards students speaking skills in senior high school.
