Analysis of the Factors Causing the Lack of Mastery of students’ Vocabulary at MTS Nurul Muhtadin Tigamaya Serang


Vocabulary mastery is one of the components to master English as a foreign language. The students have ability in understanding and using the words and meanings. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher chose an English teacher and class VIII C which consisted of 27 students. In collecting data, researcher conducted observation and interviews. The researcher used three major phases of the data analysis, they were; data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing verification. From the data analysis, the researcher found several conclusions about the problems in vocabulary mastery at MTS Nurul Muhtadin, namely as follows: first, researcher found difficulties faced by students in learning to master vocabulary, including: difficulty pronouncing, difficult to interpret, difficulty finding the meaning, and difficult to say the vocabulary they know. second, factors causing the lack of mastery of students' vocabulary namely lazy to study at home, lazy to bring and open a dictionary, lack of memorizing vocabulary, Students rarely attend school, Students are often sleepy and do not focus during learning. Furthermore students lack of interest in learning English.
