Exploring English Teaching and Learning Strategies of Bilingual School (A Case Study Grade VIII- A Junior High School at Global Indonesia School in Serang City, Banten)
This study was conducted to determine the teaching and learning
strategies of bilingual school at Global Indonesia School located in Serang
City, Banten. A bilingual school always superior, especially regarding the
English language. Students with an "international" personality and insight,
become the standard of quality for various aspects in this era. Therefore,
researchers have ambitions to make GIS as an object of research and a great
desire to know how the teaching and learning strategies are carried out by
GIS. The data taken are primary data from observations, questionnaires, and
interview to the principal of GIS, the homeroom teacher grade VIII-A of
GIS, English teacher grade VIII-A of GIS, bilingual students grade VIII-A
of GIS. Researchers used qualitative a case study methods to analyze and
describe the data. The English teaching strategy applied by an English
teacher in grade 8A is translanguaging strategy which approach in the
application of the scientific method. Also the English teacher created own
strategy, namely the Speaking Test Program, this special program also
incorporate to the translanguaging strategy and has proven to be liked by
bilingual students in grade 8A. For the English learning strategies applied by
students grade 8A are cognitive strategy and affective strategy.
