The Effectiveness of Using Discord Application For Student’s Speaking Skills (An Experimental Research of the Elevent Grade at SMA Islamic Centre Kota Tangerang)


This research is conducted to investigate the effectiveness of discord
application to improve student’s speaking skills, at SMA Islamic Centre
Kota Tangerang. The researcher collected the data from 60 students that
spared into two classes. Population of this research was the eleventh grade
students of SMA Islamic Centre, academic year 2022/2023. The sample of
the research used class XI IPS 1 as an experimental class and XI IPA 3 as an
control class. The method that is used in this research was quantitative
method and also used quasi-experimental research design with use the
instruments were three stages are pre-test, treatment, post-test. The result of
the research is the mean score of experimental class was 46,9. After using
discord application, the mean score increase to 66,03. The data analysis is
using t-test the value of or is 4,586 and the degree of freedom (df)
was 58. Based on the result, it can be seen that Ha is accepted because
is higher than . It conclusion that discord application is
effective to be applied in teaching speaking and based on t-test, using discord
application has significant effect towards students speaking skills in senior
high school.
