<note>This study investigates the effectiveness of TED Talks videos for secondgrade students' listening skills at MAN 1 Serang. In particular, this study
investigated whether the use of video TED Talks improved students'
listening skills. This research was conducted based on the statement of the
problem. 1) How is the listening ability of grade 2 students at MAN 1
Serang? 2) How is the effect of “TED Talks” video for students’ listening
skill?. This study used a quasi-experimental method with two classes,
namely class XI IPA 2 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 4 as the
control class. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data using
the t-test. Based on the results, the researcher found the average pre-test in
the experimental class is 57.37 and the average post-test value in the
experimental class is 71,31. Meanwhile, the average pre-test in the control
class is 60,69 and the average post-test value in the control class is 61,94.
According to the data, the value of to = 2,62 is bigger than tt = 1,67 (5%) and
tt = 2,38 (1%). From these results, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted
and Ho is rejected, which means Ted Talks Video is effective in helping
improve student listening.</note>
