<note>This study aims to determine the reading comprehension of eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Pabuaran Serang by applying speed reading method. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a research design of Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. This study took a sample of 14 experimental class students and 14 control class students. The instrument of this research is a description test which consists of 10 questions. Test validity is calculated by construct validity. To measure the validity of the construct can use the opinion of experts (Expert Judgment). In this case, the expert who is asked for his opinion is the supervisor. After testing the hypothesis using the independent samples T-Test analysis technique on equal variances, it is known that the value of sig. (2-tiled) the value is 0.021 < 0.05, so as the basis for decision making in the independent sample test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the speed reading method and the improvement of students' comprehensive reading ability in the experimental group and the control group.</note>
