This study aims to determine the students’ learning process by using instagram caption as a media for practice writing recount text. To explain whether instagram caption can improve students’ writing skill. To explain whether students are interested in the new media used, namely instagram caption. The method in this study used qualitative descriptive research, design of which technic of collecting data are observation, interview and documentation. The researcher took 20 students in grade 10 as a sample for the research. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Serang City. The finding of this study indicate several points such as: the first is students fell bored in the monotonous learning process. The Second is students still not interested in learning English, especially Writing. Third, students find it difficult to express their ideas in written form. This result of this study shows that the students learning process uses instagram caption by following the steps to write caption, the changes obtained in the assignment of making examples of recount text in the instagram caption and students’ responses in the learning process when using instagram caption. By using new media will attract students’ attention.
