<note>The purpose of this research was to identify the types of errors made by students on the use of personal pronoun in translating sentences. Furthemore this research also was aimed to analysis the causes of difficulties in undestanding personal pronoun in translating sentences. This is qualitative research. The subject of this research is the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Hidayah Ciomas. The data of this research were taken from test and iterview. The test is used for knowing what the types of errors made by students on the use of personal pronoun in translating sentences. The researcher describe the types of errors using precentage. Then, the interview is used to support this research in order to know the causes of students’s difficulties in understanding personal pronoun in translating sentences. Based on the result of the research, the students make four types of errors, even though in different precentage. There are 37 omission (17.70%), 9 addition (4.30%), 121 substitution (57.89%), and 42 permutation (20.09%). In addition, based on interview, the reason why students faced difficulties in understanding personal pronoun are caused by interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer and the conctext of learning.</note>
