<note>This study investigated the correlation between students' personality and their speaking ability in the English Education Department of Islamic State University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin. This is an ex post facto quantitative approach. Questionnaire and documentation were used as data collecting instruments. The questionnaire was used a personality test website (MBTI) provided by NERIS Type Explorer, which categorized the students into introvert and extrovert. The participants in this study were third-semester students who had finished and passed the second-semester speaking course, with a sample of 34 students from class A in the third semester majoring in English. In total, there were 19 extroverts and 16 introverts in the class. To evaluate the data, the following techniques were used: collecting data, identifying data, classifying data, explaining data, and analyzing data with SPSS 18 before drawing conclusions based on statistical results. The result found that the r-count from students with extrovert personality is 0.541, as indicated in the table above, with a total of 35 samples and a significance level of 1%. This value is higher than the r-table value of 0.430. It suggests that extrovert personality has a significant correlation with students' English speaking ability. Meanwhile, speaking score calculation from introvert students is -0.434, and it can be concluded that personality and speaking ability has a negative correlation. Based on the result of the study, Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted, and Ho (null hypothesis) is rejected.</note>
