<note>This study is designed to fine out the effectiveness of reading narrative poem to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at the third grade of MTs Al-Khairiyah Citangkil. It is conducted based on the research questions 1) How students’ vocabulary at third grade of MTs Al-Khairiyah Citangkil?., 2) Does reading narrative poem enrich the students in vocabulary mastery?., And the aims of this study are 1) To investigate students’ vocabulary mastery at third grade of MTs. Al-Khairiyah Citangkil., 2) To know the impact of reading narrative poem when it is applied in teaching vocabulary at third grade of MTs. Al-Khairiyah Citangkil. This study used An experimental research design and the data was collected from 54 students in two classes (Experimental class and Control class). The result of this study is showed from the data of pre-test and post test-test score. It can be seen from the mean of pre-test score in experimental class (54.81), and the mean of post-test score (78.51). Meanwhile, based on the statistical calculation the value of (2.69), and df (52) in sinificance 5% ( =1.67) and in significance 1% ( ). From comparing the and , the result is = 2.69 and = 2.69 It means that t-observation ( is higher than t-table ( ), so null hypothesis ( is rejected and alternative hypothesis is accepted. It means that using reading narrative poem has significant effect on students’ vocabulary mastery.</note>
