<note>This study aims to identify students' argument structure and describe how students construct critical thinking into their argumentative essays. The study's objectives were to analyze the argument structures, investigate their structure of delivering arguments, and determine the critical thinking used to construct the writer's argumentative essay. This research is a qualitative study. Furthermore, The data instrument for this study is an argumentative essay written in January 2021 by students of the English Education Department of Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of State Islamic University Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The data analysis technique was derived from data familiarizing, organizing, coding, reducing, interpreting, and representing. The result of this research is that students had used their argument structure by involving essentials of argument structure by Toulmin theory in their argumentative essays. All of the students had been used essential elements of the argument structure &#34;claim,&#34; &#34;evidence,&#34; &#34;reason,&#34; and the students used their critical thinking argumentative essay well. In conclusion, the students used argument structure and well applied critical thinking in argumentative essays.</note>
