<note>This study has four aims, namely: 1) to observe how implement sketch in the learning and teaching of writing, 2) to investigate how critical thinking skills be develop in students during the writing learning and teaching process, 3). to observe how sketches can stimulate students to think critically to get ideas can be used in writing argumentative text, 4) to investigate how sketches help students' to writing argumentative text. This study used a qualitative approach, by employing writing argumentative text test, interview, and documentation as its research instruments. The participants of this study were 4 students from the fourth semester of the English Education Department of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. The findings were using sketch in writing argumentative text can help students to occur during the writing process to find ideas in writing by stimulating their critical thinking skills.</note>
