21,5cm, 28cm, 50 hlm The theory used in this research is a theory by Grice about cooperative principle consists of four maxims, whereas trough the theory, Grice assumes that a good communication must obey to the rule of the principle. This research is conducted on the research question: 1) What are the types of opting out maxims used by the characters? 2) Which one is among 4 maxim highly frequently used? 3) Why does it occur? In this research, the writer focused on opting out of the maxims. The method of this research is content analysis. The research conducted in The Red Shoes and The Seven Dwarfs Movie. The writer as the main subject of the research instrument by reading and understanding the references which support this research. The writer analyzed the data by doing some steps, the first is observing the kinds of opting out maxim, the second is classifying the data, the next is describing the data, and the last is drawing conclusion. The result of the research shows that in The Red Shoes and The Seven Dwarfs Movie, a few characters have opting out all of the Gricean Maxim also it found as many 20 opting out of maxim in the conversation of movie. It includes 9 opting out maxim of quantity, 5 opting out maxim of quality, 2 opting out maxim of relation, and 4 opting out of manner. Which among 4 maxim that mentioned before, maxim of quantity is highly frequently used. Each type has the reason why the characters does opt out of the maxim. From the result, it can be concluded that The Red Shoes and The Seven Dwarfs Movie could be as learning process to gain more knowledge in pragmatics field.
