21,5cm, 28cm, 71 hlm The purpose of this research is to analysis of illocutionary act in the main character of Akeelah and the bee. This research oriented on the following aims: 1) To analyse the types of illocutionary act produced by the main character in Akeelah and the Bee Movie. 2) To find types of illocutionary act is dominant that used in Akeelah and the Bee Movie. The researcher used the content analysis method that focuses on illocutionary act. In this research, the researcher took the data in the form of a movie and script text and coding in the script. The next, analyzed by making a table based on Searle's theory. The final step is to determine the dominant category. The result of this research shows that there are 86 data in the movie script. The directive has 50 data. The representative has 18 data. The expressive has 15 data. Then, commissive has 2 data. The last, declarative has 1 data. Researcher found that the main character used all types of illocutionary act. This research reveals that the dominant speech act of the main character is the illocutionary act of directives.
