An analysis of violation maxim in The Home Alone 5 Movie (A Content Analysis of Movie “Home Alone 5”)

This research is conducted on the research question: 1.) What are the types of violation maxims used by the characters in The Home Alone 5 movie? 2.) How do the characters violated the maxims in The Home Alone 5 movie?. The aims of this research are: 1) To analyze the types of violation maxims used by the characters and 2) To know the characters violated the maxims. The method of this research is summative content analysis. The way of the writer analyzes this movie through many steps: 1) Selecting, watching and observing the Home Alone 5 movie, 2) Investigate how do the characters violated the maxim is used based on the gricean maxim theory. 3) Taking note and mark anything that is related to violating maxim. 4) Describing the maxim violation data and give the reason why utterance happened and the last is classifying the data which contains maxim violation. The research conducted in The Home Alone 5 movie. The result of the research shows that in The Home Alone 5 movie, a few characters have violated all of the Gricean Maxim also it found as many 10 violation maxim in the conversation of movie. From the result, it can be concluded that Home Alone 5 movie could be as learning process to gain more knowledge in pragmatics field.
