<note>This research was carried out to investigate students’ problem in reading aloud at the 1st grade of MTs Al-Khairiyah Pipitan. Specifically, it sought to identify what problems that students encounter during reading aloud to achieve reading comprehension and what strategies students do to overcome problems that they encounter during reading aloud to achieve reading comprehension. The method was used in this study was qualitative method with case study approach. Six students were selected as the participants. The data were gathered through reading comprehension test, reading aloud performance test, and interview. The result of the research showed that the problems faced by the students were students felt difficult to pronounce words, reading fluency problem, students had very limited vocabulary, students’ anxiety, and the students intended to end their reading. While, their strategy in reading aloud to achieve reading comprehension were bottom-up model, practice to be confident, using dictionary, and discussion with friends.</note>
