21,5cm, 28cm, 49 hlm The aims of this research were to find out the students’ problem in learning reading and the students cause of problem in learning reading in period of Covid-19 pandemic. Beside the students’ effort to solve their reading problem. This research used qualitative research and use survey method. The researcher used quota samling technique to determine the sample. The instrument used in this research was questionnaire. This research took 75 students as respondents at Arabic Education Department (PBA) The State Islamic Unviersity Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten on second semester in Academic year 2019/2020. The researcher used three categories to analysis data: there are data reduction, data display and drawing and veryfing conclusion. The result of this research, the researcher found that the students problem, the students cause of problem in comprehending English reading text and the students effort to solve their reading problem during the Covid-19 as follow: (1) The students problem in learning reading in period of Covid-19 pandemic are students do not understand what the teacher explains; it’s hard to find the main idea in a paragraph, lack vocabulary, lack of more detail information from a text and the students it’s hard to make a summary or making inference. (2) The cause of the problem in comprehending English reading text in period of Covid-19 pandemic are learner’s background and students environment. It means students are lazyto read, bored when English reading textbook and students have difficult pronouncing every words. The environment also becomes the cause of students problem in learning reading such as students feel unfocused when studying at home and students difficult to ask lecturers, less interaction between teacher and students. (3) The students effort to solve in their reading problem during Covid-19 pandemic are students ask to friends via WhatsApp or phone, Google translate and look up the meaning in the dictionary.
