<note>This research investigates the effect of using shared reading strategy in teaching reading comprehension on recount text lesson. The method used in this research is quasi experiment. The research conducted in the second grade (VIII) of MTs Jabal Nur Cipondoh as the population and class VIII B consists of 24 students as experimental class and VIII A consists of 24 students as control class are taken as the sample. The result of the research shows that using shared reading strategy has significant difference on students’ reading comprehension. The instrument used in this research was observation and test (pre-test and post-test). It can be seen from the result that writer has got the mean of the pre-test 61,5 and post-test score 84,08 from the experimental class and the pre-test score is 70,25 and posttest 75,66 from the control class. The writer got that to (t observation) is higher than tt (t table). tt 5% < to > tt 1% = 2.01 < 4.16 > 2.68. to ; tt = 4.16 > 2.01 in degree of significant 5%. to ; tt = 4.16 > 2.68 in degree of significant 1%. Since to score obtained from the result of calculating, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null (Ho) is rejected. It means there is significant effect of using shared reading strategy toward students’ reading comprehension on recount text. From the result of the test, it can be concluded that shared reading strategy can be applied in teaching learning process to improve students’ reading comprehension and also has good influence for students’ reading comprehension</note>
