<note>The method used in this research is quasi experiment. The research conducted in the second grade (VIII) of SMPN 2 Kresek as the population and class VIII A consists of 30 students as experimental class and VIII B consists of 30 students as control class are taken as the sample. The result shows that the value (7.99) was higher than (2.65) at the significance level 5% it means that the Null Hypothesis ( ) was rejected at the Alternative Hypothesis ( ) was accepted. Therefore, chain story technique is effective towards students’ writing on narrative text at the second grade of SMPN 2 Kresek kab. Tangerang.To examine above hypothesis, the writer collects data from 60 students’s spread in two classes, one class as the experimental group and another on is as the control group, by applying experimental research method. The population is the second grade of SMPN 2 Kresek kab. Tangerang. The research took sample from VIII B class as control group, and VIII A class as experimental group. The data was gathered through pre-test and post-test because the researcher used quasi experimental method. Based on the result, the researcher got mean pre-test score 53.90 and post-test score 70.7 from experiment class. While from control class the researcher got mean pretest 51.17 and meant post-test 57.83. The score of experimental class increase on 16.8% it is better than control class students with increase on 6.66% According the data, the score of to (t-observation) 7.99 is higher than tt( t-table) 2.65. so that based on calculating the data of t-test that the effectiveness of using chain story in teaching writing narrative text, has positive effect.</note>
