<note>This research is to an analyze the strategies of direct and indirect refusals strategies most frequently used by students when they refuse in second grade at MA AL-MIZAN Pandeglang. The objectives of this research are : 1) To Analyze the refusals strategies most frequently used by students when they refuse in second grade at MA AL-MIZAN Pandeglang. 2) To Investigate the factors that influenced refusal strategies used by students in second grade at MA AL-MIZAN Pandeglang. In this research, the writer uses Case study. the subject of this research is the students from MA-ALMIZAN pandeglang. The technique to collect the data are Questionnaire and Interview. Based on the result of this research, the researcher concluded that the refusal strategies used in speaking class totally from the 100 utterances, 56% used Direct refusal, and 44 % used Indirect refusal. The factor influenced the student used different refusal are age, level of education, and situation. Keywords : Refusal Strategy, Speech Act, Pragmatic.</note>
