(Quasi Experimental Research at the Second Grade of SMA SUBIS) This research investigated the effectiveness of using scaffolding in teaching writing report text, especially at the second grade of SMA Subis. It is conducted based on the statements of problem 1). How is students writing report skill before and after applying scaffolding to teach writing? 2). How is the effectiveness of scaffolding in teaching writing report text? And the aims of the study are 1). To know the students’ writing skill before and after using scaffolding 2). To know the effectiveness of using scaffolding in teaching writing report text. To conduct the research, the writer used Quasi-experiment research methodology with two group design where the sample that is used is 60 students (XI IPA-1) as the control class, and (XI IPA 2) as the experiment class. from total population 140 students at the second grade of SMA Subis year 2018-2019. The writer collected the data by using test, the pre-test is given before treatment and post-test after a treatment or after applying scaffolding. The result of the study is students writing skill before applying scaffolding is still low, it can be seen from the mean score of pre-test in experiment class (36,2), and mean of post-test in experiment class (67,93), scaffolding also haven’t effective toward students’ writing report text, it can be seen from t-test (0,277) where it is smaller than t-table with significance level 1% (2,392) and 5% (2,002) or 2,392&#62;0,277</note>
