This research investigates the use of conversation video in listening lesson. listening refers to the ability to use conversation video. This research conducted based on the statement of problem, 1) How is the students’ listening skills before and after conversation video at the 8th grade of SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang? 2) How is the effectiveness of using conversation video listening subject at the 8th grade of SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang? This research is aimed for to know students’ listening in SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang and to know the effectiveness of using conversation video for teaching students’ listening in SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang. Method used for this research is experimental with two classes, called experiment and control class using pre-test and post-test technique. This research involves 80 students’ as sample among at the 8th grade of SMP Negeri 17 Kota Serang.
Based on the result, the researcher got the average score of pre-test was 46.12 and average score of post-test was 46.75 from control class, while from experimental class the average of pre-test score was 45.87 and the average score of post-test was 62.12. The result shows that the value of to 7.640 is higher than the value of ttable is 1.66, the result was accepted. This research shows that the students’ listening comprehension who use conversation video achieve better performance than those who do not use conversation video.</note>
