Purpose of this research to know: 1) the students ability in mastering tenses at first year of senior high school Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. 2) The students ability in writing composition at first year of senior high school Sultan Agung Tirtayasa, and 3) The relationship between the students ability in mastering tenses and it's relationship with their ability in writing composition at first year of Senior High School Sultan Agung Tirtayasa. This research started from though that students who has mastered the english tenses to be hope can write english composition correctly. Because tenses is main element of material in english composition correctly. Because tenses is main element of material in english language is very important to describe the idea, thinking and the development of science and technology. As a foreign language, knowledge can be developing with train writing composition. This research used the description methode with technique of library, survey, interview, and the test.
