The Effectiveness of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) On Students’ Writing Skill in Descriptive Text (A Quasi-Experimental at First Grade of MTSN 1 Kabupaten Serang)


The objective of this Research was to know the effectiveness of Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) on students' writing skills in descriptive texts. The main problem for students is writing, where writing is a passive activity because it involves various aspects, but writing is an activity that is often carried out to measure students' skills. Meanwhile, students are required to be able to do their assignments properly and correctly. Because of this, the importance of a method that can provide the best solution for students namely Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM). This method aims to provide good memory and be able to guide students in writing. Especially, in Descriptive Text. This study use Quasi-Experimental Research. Where the population is the entire VII class students at MTSN 1 Kabupaten Serang there are 60 students divided into 2 groups class VII-1 that acts as a experimental class and class VII-2 which acts as an control class consisting of 60 students of class VII-1 and VII-2 as respondents. The researcher uses Descriptive text and English test as the instrument and to get the data the researcher use Pre-test and Post-test. After the data collected the researcher calculated uses t-test and the Final Findings of this study revealed that to is greater than t-table at a significant level of 5%, t table = 2.00 and t observation = 7.36. Thus Ha (alternative hypothesis) was accepted and HO (null hypothesis) was Rejected it proved that the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) was effective, in other words there is significant influence in applying Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) in improving writing skill in Descriptive text at MTSN 1 Kabupaten Serang.
