An Overview of Teaching-Learning Activities in English Writing (A Descriptive Study at 12th Grade of MAN 2 Tangerang)


The objectives of this research are to identify the teaching-learning process in the classroom to develop students’ English writing ability and to relate the roles of the students and the teacher in the teaching-learning process. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study at the twelfth grade of MAN 2 Tangerang. The instrument of this research are observation, interviews, and document analysis. The respondents of this research were the English teachers of MAN 2 Tangerang and the twelfth grade of MAN 2 Tangerang, totaling 139 out of 267 students. The findings of this study are the method that were used by the teachers, which are direct method, CLT, and discovery learning. The curriculum used by the teachers is K13. The related roles between the teacher and the students were naturally happen in the class and the relationship between teachers and students that occurs in the classroom naturally supports teaching and learning to write English. From the research results above, it can be conclude the process of teaching-learning English in 12th grade still uses the general teaching method, not the proper method of teaching English writing and the roles of students and teachers who support the learning process in class remain effective and naturally growing so that this process of the English writing skills of twelfth-grade students.
