The Influence Connecting Strategy Toward Reading Comprehension on Recount Text (A Quasi Experimental Study at the Eight Grade Student of SMP Nuur El-Bantany Kota Serang)


Reading is one of important skills that have must to be mastered
by students because reading is the door to obtain new information and
knowledge. Sometimes students get some problems in the reading
process because they limited vocabulary knowledge so that they poor
in comprehension and they with refining their technique in teaching
reading. The aim of this research to give infomation about reading
connecting strategy activities in reading process in SMP NUUR ELBANTANY Kota Serang.
The writer used the quantitative as a researched method and the
writer used quasy experiment as the research design. For collecting
data the writer gave the pre-test and post-test to compare students
achievement in reading comprehension before and after reading
connecting strategy on recount text. The respondents for the
experimental class are 60 students. Based on the finding and
discussion. It is can be concluded that the hypothesis was accepted. It
meant that there was an effect of reading connecting strategy on
student reading comprehension. Based on the resulted of this
researched. The writer suggested the teacher use the connecting
strategy on recount text to improve reading comprehension because it
proved by student score in post-test better than pre-test.
