The Influence of Retelling Technique Using Legend Story on Improving Students' Speaking Skill (An Experimental Research At 10th Grade Student Of Man 1 Pandeglang)


This research entitled “The Influence of Retelling Technique Using Legend Story on Imroving Students' Speaking Skill (An Experimental Research At 10th Grade Student Of Man 1 Pandeglang) The study aims to investigate whether incorporating legend stories in language instruction can effectively improve students' oral proficiency. The research method employed was quantitative, involving 60 samples, with 30 in each of the experimental and control groups. The research design involves pre-test and post-test assessments, with one group undergoing the retelling technique intervention.The collected data were analyzed using statistical methods. The findings show that it was found that the average score in the experimental class was 71.7, compared to the previous average score of 54.5 for the experimental class, indicating an increase of 16.7 in the experimental class. These results were also higher than the control class, with an average of 60.3 and a pre-test average of only 51.4. This indicates that the improvement in the control class was only 8.9 points. Therefore, the post-test results in the experimental class were 7.8 points higher than the post-test results in the control class.This result show that the implementation of the retelling technique with legend stories significantly contributes to enhancing students' speaking abilities. This study underscores the potential of narrative-based language instruction as a valuable tool for improving speaking skills in English language learning contexts.
