The Influence of Pictionary Game towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery (A Quasi Experimental Research in the First Grade of SMPN 1 Petir)


This research aims to examine the influence of Pictionary game in improving students’ vocabulary mastery at the first grade of SMPN 1 Petir. This research was experimental research and using quasi experimental method, compare two classes from the first grade of SMPN 1 Petir, in which VII B as experimental class, and VII A as control class. The instrument of the research is using Test. The researcher collected the data from 64 students in two classes from experimental class and control class, the result shows that pictionary game improved the students vocabulary mastery, it can be seen from the score of experimental class the mean score of pre-test is (60.31) and the score of post test (80.93), hypothesis of t-test of both sample t-table with 5% significance level found ( 1.67) and with 1% significance level found ( 2,38). In sum, the result is on significance 5% = 1.67 and 1% = 2.38. It indicates that = 7.51 = 1.67 and so the null hypothesis ( ) is rejected and alternative hypothesis ( ) is accepted. From the result, it can be drawn a conclusion that there is significant effect of using pictionary game in improving students’ vocabulary mastery at the first grade of SMPN 1 Petir.
