Teaching Speaking Through Finding Missing Information (FMI) Technique at the First Grade of Senior High School (A Quasi-Experimental Research at the First Grade of State Vocational 1 Curugbitung)
This research investigated using Finding Missing Information (FMI) Technique on student speaking ability. This research is to find out whether teaching speaking by Finding Missing Information (FMI) Technique can improve students’ speaking ability. This study has three research questions, they are: (1) How is the students’ speaking skill of State Vocational 1 Curugbitung? (2) How is the process of teaching speaking through Finding Missing Information technique at the first grade State Vocational 1 Curugbitung? (3) How is the effectiveness of Finding Missing Information in teaching speaking skill? The researcher collected data from 50 students at the first grade State Vocational 1 Curugbitung as a sample that was spared into two classes. One class X ATPH as an experimental class and another class X BDP as a control class. The instrument used in this research was tests (pre-test and post-test). The research finding of the last result showed that "t o" that the writer got from the calculation is higher, the result of this study showed that the mean of pre-test = 50,9 and post-test = 72,8 than t table both at significance level 5%. Based on the result, it is obtained that the score of to = 4,24 and tt = 1,67 in degree of freedom is 48. It means that Ha : to>tt. It means that there is significant influence of using Finding Missing Information (FMI) Technique to improve students' speaking skill at first grade of State Vocational 1 Curugbitung.
