THE APPLICATION OF AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT IN THE ENGLISH TEACHING PROCESS DURING ONLINE LEARNING (A Case Study at Eleventh and Twelfth-grade SMAN 1 BAROS)
This research used qualitative approach using a case study design that aims at analyzed the teacher's process in implementing of authentic assessment in English learning and what obstacles occur during the assessment process during online learning. The subjects of this study were the eleventh and twelfth-grade English teachers. The data collection process for this study used interview sheets, observations, and documentation in the form of assessment instruments, assessment rubrics, and several screenshots of online learning applications. The study results show that the authentic assessment has been implemented by the English teacher of SMA Negeri 1 Baros, through three stages, namely planning, implementation, and reporting. However, several challenges are felt by teachers when conducting online assessments, which are related to facilities and infrastructure to the readiness of students to take part in the online learning process. To overcome these challenges, teachers should be more creative in completing learning tools by the systematic assessment so that the application of the assessment becomes more focused, precise, and objective so that learning objectives can be achieved.
