INVESTIGATING PROBLEMS AND SOLVING STRATEGIES OF INTROVERTED LEARNERS IN SPEAKING ENGLISH (A Case Study Research at 4th Semester of UIN SMH Banten)
The aims of this study were to investigates the problems and strategies for solving introvert learners' problems speaking English. The researcher use qualitative research design in this research. An online MBTI test was used to recruit the introverted participants. The research involves eight students at fourth-semester of English Education Department of UIN SMH Banten. The researcher gathered data through an observation and interview. The result of this research showed there are three problems that introvert learners face when speaking English: linguistic problems (pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary), feeling shy or nervous, and having lack of self-confidence. This study also discovered three factors affecting their problems: affective factor, environment factor, and personality factor. The last, there are 6 strategies that found in this research to solve introvert learners’ problem in speaking English. The strategies are self-practice as much as possible, regulating breath, learning through social media platform, takes a note of unfamiliar words, listening to English song, and playing online games.
